The Cow Palace and Rural Style Theatre Venue

Once upon a time, just outside the village of Orono ...  livestock farmers would gather each Wednesday evening at the Cow Palace (then known as the Durham County Sale Arena) to buy and sell livestock.

In the early 1990s the auction moved to a bigger space in Lindsay, leaving behind this amazingly unique structure and space.

David purchased the property and building in 2001, to create a workshop and studio for his leather. The workshop/gallery is in the area initially used to house the livestock.

The sale arena has been kept mostly intact and after a deep cleaning and some fresh paint, created an intimate theatre type setting with exceptional acoustic quality.

Now this small venue is used for concerts, movie screenings, video and sound production, plays and workshops and a place for his grandchildren and friends to play and create.
